• Create fanwork about your favorite female characters!


• Create fanwork in unusual genres: comedy, crack, horror, mystery, AU. We see a lot of romance, UST, angst, and meta prompts — let's give some of the other genres a try!


• It's fine to choose one theme or the other — there's no requirement to combine them, but you can if you want!

How will the scoring go?

• Any work that fits the theme of Ladies and/or Unusual Genres will receive 10 points.
• Any work that doesn't fit the Ladies and/or Unusual Genres theme, but is submitted in Ladies & Unusual Genres Month, will still receive 5 points.
• Remember that you have to be signed up for a team before you post your work in order to get points!

What if there isn't anything in the Chocobo Down Database that I want to create for? What if I want to ask for something else?
We'll open an entry for new prompts this weekend. This way everybody can look through our official unfilled prompt list first and get started there, before we generate new prompts.

Some reminders for this round:

• Please include the prompt you are filling somewhere when you post your work!
• Since the mods can't guarantee we have the time to look at every work ourselves, please make sure you label your work appropriately, so that we know who gets bonus points and who doesn't!

The current themes are Minor Characters & Songfics, but if you can't find the perfect prompt in our existing Chocobo Down database or in past rounds of the Chocobo Races, here is a post where you can leave new prompts and look for ideas.

Please leave your prompts for Minor Characters & Songfics here; anyone can prompt, anyone can fill, but if you want to earn points, remember to sign up for a team first!

To leave a prompt:

• Please put the canon and character or ship in the subject of the comment. FFX-2: Beclem/Chappu, or FFVII (OGC): Scarlet, or FFVIII: Julia/Caraway are examples.


• Leave the details of your prompt in the comment. "Anything goes" usually isn't as helpful as you'd think - even if it's true! - so please try to add some optional details or ideas for people who might want a pointer.


• You can leave as many prompts as you wish, although we would ask you to stick to 5 prompts to keep things manageable. If you manage to fill someone's minor character or songfic wish, however, feel free to come leave as many prompts as you want!

August Bonus Theme
This month is Small Fandom Month! We love when we can make a small-fandom connection in DOINK! Final Fantasy Exchange because we can make someone's smaller fandom dreams come true -- but often there are smaller-fandom prompts we just can't match up. This month is to help make up for that! Basically, if you create work for a small fandom, you get bonus points! If you create work for a tiny fandom, you get even more bonus points!

How will the scoring go?

• Any work submitted for Small Fandoms - FFIV (and The After Years), FFVI, FFIX - will be worth 10 points each.
• Any work submitted for Extra Small Fandoms - FFI, FFII, FFIII, FFV and Legend of the Crystals, FFXI, VS, all Tactics games, FFXIV, FF: TSW, FFU, FF: MQ, FF: 4 Heroes, all Crystal Chronicles games - will be worth 15 points each.
• Any work that doesn't fit the August theme, but is submitted in August, will still receive 5 points.
• Remember that you have to be signed up for a team before you post your work in order to get points!

We're happy to announce that the 2013 round of Chocobo Racing is open for team registration!

Not sure what Chocobo Racing is? You can look here for last year's explanation of the Races. In a kupo-nutshell: Sign up for a team; fill prompts and get points for your team; repeat monthly with special bonus themes for extra points; the highest-scoring team next March wins the round!

We're welcoming back our three teams from last year - Ifrit, Ramuh, and Shiva - but this year we've invited our two new mods to be team leaders:

At the bottom of this entry are three comments - one for each team. To officially sign up for the Chocobo Races, reply to the comment for the team you want to join. It's okay if you don't have a Dreamwidth! You can comment using your Livejournal, using an OpenID, or simply use an anonymous comment to leave us your information. It's just a lot easier for the mod team to only have to look in one place to get our current team rosters.

A couple other notes on Chocobo Racing sign-ups:

• Feel free to sign up for whatever team you want to be on! They're all open and you don't have to 'know' a mod to join!


• That being said, please try your best to make sure teams are evenly distributed. We'd hate to have 500 Ifrits and only a couple Shivas and Ramuhs.


• Signing up doesn't commit you to anything, so if you're on the fence but interested, sign up anyway!


• You can sign up at any point during the round! Just remember, we won't be able to count your work for points unless your sign-up is dated before your posted work. This is why, if you think there's any chance you'll want to participate later, it's a good idea to sign up now.

We'll be putting the banners up again soon to help you spread the word about your teams. For now, get ready – the 2013 Chocobo Races are about to begin…!

FINAL BOSS: 2013 KISSING BATTLE

That's right! It's February, and it's time for the Final Fantasy Kissing Battle. Once again, we'll be using Kiss Battle fills as February's way to earn extra points.

Anyone is welcome to participate in the FF Kiss Battle - you don’t have to be a DOINK participant, and you don’t have to be a Chocobo Racer. However! If you would like your fills to earn kissy points, please use the links above to sign up for a team.

If you’re a Chocobo Racer: we will be giving points for fills, but not prompts. Each fill will be worth 5 points for your team.

We will be running the Kissing Battle on Dreamwidth only. There are two main reasons for this: 1) Dreamwidth’s comment limit is huge, allowing for longer kissing masterpieces; and 2) Dreamwidth still supports subject lines for comments, which are vital to a meme like the Kiss Battle. However, the Battle is open to everyone. Feel free to participate in whatever way you'd like - although, yeah, in order to earn points for your team, you need to be logged in.
