August Chocobo Races: Small Fandoms Prompt Post!

August's theme is Small Fandoms Month, but if you can't find the perfect prompt in our existing Chocobo Down database or in past rounds of the Chocobo Races, here is a post where you can leave new prompts and look for ideas.

Please leave your prompts for Small Fandoms Month here; anyone can prompt, anyone can fill, but to earn points, remember to sign up for a team.

To leave a prompt:

• Please put the canon and character(s) in the subject of the comment. FFIII: Arc/Alus, or FFII: Leila, or FFT: Rapha & Marach are examples.


• Leave the details of your prompt in the comment. "Anything goes" usually isn't as helpful as you'd think — even if it's true! — so please try to add some optional details or ideas for people who might want a pointer.


• You can leave as many prompts as you wish, although we would ask you to stick to 5 prompts to keep things manageable. If you manage to fill a prompt this month, however, we invite you to come back and leave more prompts of your own!

Bonus Points! While the minimum requirements for Chocobo Races are 500 words or a sketch, we would like to offer bonus points for works that go above and beyond the call of duty! Bonus points will be awarded in the following circumstances:

• +5 points for every 5000 words of a single fic
• +5 points for extensive coloring or shading in a picture
• +5 points for complexity within a single picture; i.e. backgrounds or multiple characters
• +5 points for multi-paneled comics

We will retroactively award bonus points for qualifying works submitted last month, and this will be an ongoing feature for the remainder of the 2013 round of Chocobo Races.

FFVI: Maduin/Madeline (Maduin/Madonna)

I've been reading Lina Darkstar's annotated translation of FFVI, and one of the parts that really jumped out at me was the part where we see that it's Madeline, not Maduin, who said this:

My name's Madeline. I got sick of the human world. The spiral of ambition and hatred disgusted me, and I left. I wandered through that storm, and somehow...

Since then, I've longed to know more of the details. For example: what happened to Madeline that made her hate the human world so badly? Why did she walk off into that storm? How did she feel about living in the Esper world, by comparison? Bonus points if she's a bit (or a lot) of a xenophile.

Alternatively, I'd just like to see what their relationship was like for those two years.

(Also, :D! I have a rather extensively coloured picture sitting in chapter 8 of Her Shining and Her Grace. Will that nab some extra Team Shiva points too?)

FFI: Warmech

For as long as I can remember, my headcanon for Warmech was that it was a human brain ripped out and fused to a machine built only for the destruction of the enemies of its builders.

You don't have to roll with that, but let's see some Warmech backstory. Either on site as it's built or with the Light Warriors are trawling around the space station, picking clues to its origin as they go. (Or if you have a third idea, feel free - I'm easy).

FFII: Leila

Leila and Magic. Magic and Leila. When and how she picked it up, it's uses in pirating and being a Man of the Sea, or in her adventures with The Team or her adventures later on. Anything to do with Leila and her inclination towards magic.

FFV: Faris/Butz and Boco

Faris learns the hard way that being with Butz involves putting up with his overgrown chicken. Alternately, Faris and Boco team up against Butz' and his hairbrained shenanigans.

FF:TSW: Aki & Sid

Early Adventures in Spirit Wave Tech.

FFT: Mustadio

For the purposes of this prompt: as a mechanically minded engineer type, Mustadio has a compulsive need to touch and fiddle with All the Things. This gets him in trouble. Naturally.

FFD: Generals

Finally finished this game today. I'd love to see fanart or fic or anything of this game, esp. anything involving the 8 generals. They have such nice designs.

(SPOILERS) Also, I have lots of Vata feels now. I'd love to see something introspective, involving his struggle to rise in the ranks of the Avalon Empire, interactions with other generals, etc.
