Final Fantasy Kissing Battle 2013

RULES

• This year, we're creating Master Links for each fandom. When leaving prompts, please put it under the right canon! If in a compilation canon, please leave the important details!


• To leave a prompt: leave one prompt per comment, with FANDOM: CHARACTERS/RELATIONSHIP in the subject line and your prompt in the body.


• To leave a fill: reply to the comment in question. Please use the subject line of your comment to label your work: TITLE (if relevant), FANDOM, CHARACTERS/RELATIONSHIP, RATING (ANY KINKS, WARNINGS, FLAGS).


• There should be kissing! All kinds of kisses are welcome: gen, shippy, smutty, chaste, familial, friendly, angry, happy! We’re pretty open to anything you want to call kissing. We are fans of all of it.


• Fanart, fanfiction, drabbles, doodles, live action movies -- whatever you want to supply, we’d like to have it.


• Be kind to others regarding character or ship choices and prompts. This should be fun for everyone!


• Prompt early, prompt often, and leave as many as you want.


• Prompts can be filled multiple times!


• To leave a blitzkrieg kiss: If you have something but no one has prompted it yet, blitzkiss away! Just reply to the comment for your fandom, and make sure you use the subject line to label your work.


• Be sure to check back often -- new kissing action could be showing up everywhere!

We will be running the Kissing Battle on Dreamwidth only. There are two main reasons for this: 1) Dreamwidth’s comment limit is huge, allowing for longer kissing masterpieces; and 2) Dreamwidth still supports subject lines for comments, which are vital to a meme like the Kiss Battle. However, the Battle is open to everyone. Feel free to participate with your Dreamwidth (account creation is invite-free right now~!), your Livejournal or other OpenID account (see here if you want to set up an OpenID), or anonymously.

They’re sitting together, silent, the first night--- or whatever you want to call it, here--- after they’ve made common cause.

Something about Kain’s brooding feels familiar, nagging at her like a loose tooth, something you can’t help poking even if it hurts. Tifa grins over at him. “KP for your thoughts.”

Kain snorts. “We’ll need that for later.”

“It’s a figure of speech, silly.” She gets up from her perch and comes to sit beside him. “What’s going on in there?” She raps a fist against his helm, and though her touch is gentle, he jumps. “With all that armor covering your face, I can’t tell what you’re thinking.”

He snorts again. “That’s rather the point.” He regards her from under the helm, the blue eyes in shadow. “I’ve never been prone to blind trust.”

The comment stings. “There’s a difference between blindness and faith.”

“Really?”

“Sure--- one of them you’re just stumbling around in the dark, the other... it’s something you know, even if you can’t see it. It’s trusting yourself.”

“Ah.” Kain’s voice is sad, and that’s enough for an answer.

She slugs him lightly in the side, her gloves taking the impact with the metal of his plate; judging from the way he jumps, his ribs don’t fame much better. (Serves him right.) “Maybe that’s your problem,” she says. “You’ve gotta trust yourself first.”

Kain is silent; well, she hadn’t expected a response. She looks up into the face beneath the shadowing protection (in more ways than one) of the helm. On impulse, she stretches up and touches her lips to his. “C’mon,” she says. “We’ve got a busy day ahead of us--- let’s get some rest.”

So like, I saw this on my email and started having my heart skipping beats. Then I read this and I was all internal squealing and stars bursting and then I told myself to calm down and read the story. So I did and I just love how Tifa have this buddy-buddy casual relationship thing and Kain is being kinda morose and ashamed, and she's all knuckling to get out of that funk and at the end reassuring him to keep going on?

It's a great, simple story, and I just wanted to roll on the ground with these stars blasting around inside me.
