2013 KISS BATTLE!
RULES
- This year, we're creating Master Links for each fandom. When leaving prompts, please put it under the right canon! If in a compilation canon, please leave the important details!
- To leave a prompt: leave one prompt per comment, with FANDOM: CHARACTERS/RELATIONSHIP in the subject line and your prompt in the body.
- To leave a fill: reply to the comment in question. Please use the subject line of your comment to label your work: TITLE (if relevant), FANDOM, CHARACTERS/RELATIONSHIP, RATING (ANY KINKS, WARNINGS, FLAGS).
- There should be kissing! All kinds of kisses are welcome: gen, shippy, smutty, chaste, familial, friendly, angry, happy! We’re pretty open to anything you want to call kissing. We are fans of all of it.
- Fanart, fanfiction, drabbles, doodles, live action movies -- whatever you want to supply, we’d like to have it.
- Be kind to others regarding character or ship choices and prompts. This should be fun for everyone!
- Prompt early, prompt often, and leave as many as you want.
- Prompts can be filled multiple times!
- To leave a blitzkrieg kiss: If you have something but no one has prompted it yet, blitzkiss away! Just reply to the comment for your fandom, and make sure you use the subject line to label your work.
- Be sure to check back often -- new kissing action could be showing up everywhere!

FINAL FANTASY KISS BATTLE 2013
We will be running the Kissing Battle on Dreamwidth only. There are two main reasons for this: 1) Dreamwidth’s comment limit is huge, allowing for longer kissing masterpieces; and 2) Dreamwidth still supports subject lines for comments, which are vital to a meme like the Kiss Battle. However, the Battle is open to everyone. Feel free to participate with your Dreamwidth (account creation is invite-free right now~!), your Livejournal or other OpenID account (see here if you want to set up an OpenID), or anonymously.

Almya swats him, knocking his red hat askew. "I'm not. It works in the old stories. Who wants to try?"
Gaul fiddles with the fabric of his gi, looking vaguely uncomfortable. "But he." He frowns, and tries again. "It's kind of ... off-color? What if he doesn't want a kiss? From anyone, I mean?"
Ulren rolls his eyes and pushes past all of them, rolling up his white sleeves. "Then as the resident healer, I declare it a medical emergency. It's all right," he says to the elven guards. "I'm a white mage."
Clef glances back at the sentries with a wince. They look like they regret everything up to this point. Gaul says, "This is just unseemly."
Almya snorts. "If it works, you all owe me a tankard."
The prince's attendant finally recovers enough to sputter, "You're going to kiss him? That's your solution?" He doesn't say "that's the Light Warriors's solution?" but the tone is clear.
Almya may be a crass, boisterous ogre -- but she's their crass, boisterous ogre, so Clef draws himself up and says, "I'm surprised you haven't already. If you've a better suggestion, let's hear it. Otherwise, all avenues should be exhausted."
Ulren brushes the prince's hair from his forehead, feeling for fever. Satisfied, he bends down and brushes his lips against the elf's -- then again, lingering a moment longer, before pulling back.
Nothing. Clef huffs, chewing a corner of his lower lip. Well, what did they expect? Astos doesn't seem like the fairytale type.
"Hold on," Almya says, striding forward. "I'll try."
The attendant begins wringing his hands. "I don't think, ah, that is -- you see, the prince prefers--"
Almya towers over him, hands on her hips, armor catching the candlelight just so. "I'll tell you what the prince prefers: heroes. He wants to be rescued from his slumber, not coaxed from it by a frail nursemaid."
"Excuse me?" Ulren sputters, while Almya pulls him off the bed. Clef catches him, and they exchange exasperated looks because, well, ogre.
She does look like a hero, bent over the prince, holding her scabbard with one hand and his chin in the other. She kisses him once, firmly, for ten whole seconds. It's a beautiful tableau -- ultimately shattered when Almya releases the prince's lips with a smack.
"Huh," she says, frowning down at him. "Guess I was wrong." She does a fabulous job of ignoring the attendant's ire. "So, Astos?"

Losing Faith, FFI, Elf Prince/Light Warrior, PG
In the stifled silence of the room, the crackle of candles burning their wicks was unbearably loud. His voice, softened, felt unwelcome.
“Where is your Champion? Where is the Faerie Queen? Where are your Warriors of Prophecy? Where are they all?” He shook his head, tousled mane rippling against his shoulders. “We’re, all of us, dead without you.”
“You said I was different.” He leaned over the bed, pleading. “You said I could change everything.” He retreated, scorned. “How am I supposed to...?”
“How could you how could you how dare you?”
The sound of his voice echoed in his ears. No one came running to the bedchamber. The figure on the bed lay deathly still. Dead, dead, dead.
Dead but sleeping.
Sleeping but dead.
The lilt of stanzas marched through his mind. That Conerian liked to sing it, in harsh and deepened tones as she sharpened her sword in the courtyard during the summer. A queen dead, in a castle of thorns, awoken by the kiss of a knightly king.
The words tumbled gracefully from his tongue in a prayer. Leaning down, he pressed his lips against the sleeping prince’s own, and brushed away the tears that fell irreverently upon his face.
Nothing happened.
Nothing changed.
The darkened Orb had spent untold years on a pedestal in the throne room. Wrapping it in a shirt, he shoved it into his knapsack, before the guards could return, and disappeared into the morning twilight.
