How To Summon A DOINK! Beta


Do you need a beta for your gift? Let us know what you're looking for, and we'll see whether Asura (Queen of the Beta Summons) can find a beta who's a great match for you and your work. All you need to do is fill out a brief form letting us know:

• What your gift is (media, canon, characters/pairing, warnings/flags/DNWs)


• Who your gift is for (some participants are also betas, and we don't want to spoil anyone's gift!)


• What kind of beta you're looking for (Mild, Medium, Spicy? Canon-checking or just a basic polishing?)


• How fast you'd like a response (as fast as possible? within a few weeks?)

You can summon a beta at any point in the exchange - whether you want someone to help you shape an idea into a gift, or you have a finished piece you want to have polished. Just keep in mind that our betas are volunteers and many are also participants. Please leave yourself enough time to find a beta, work with a beta, and make changes to your gift before the end of the exchange! You can work out the exact timeline of feedback with your beta - many people prefer to have a few back-and-forth comment sessions - just please keep your deadlines in mind. Finishing your gift on time is your responsibility; "My beta ate my assignment!" isn't a good excuse :)

Once you've submitted a request, the mods will contact the Beta Summon Team and see whether any betas are available and are a good match to your work/media/desired level of critique. Once we find a match, we'll email you and your beta together to make the connection! If we can't find a beta volunteer in 3-4 days, we will contact you to let you know so that you can look elsewhere. We'll continue to forward open requests to the beta team sporadically, so if someone's schedule frees up and they are able to work with you at a later date, we will let you know.
