2013 KISS BATTLE!

Final Fantasy Kissing Battle 2013

RULES
  • This year, we're creating Master Links for each fandom. When leaving prompts, please put it under the right canon! If in a compilation canon, please leave the important details!

  • To leave a prompt: leave one prompt per comment, with FANDOM: CHARACTERS/RELATIONSHIP in the subject line and your prompt in the body.

  • To leave a fill: reply to the comment in question. Please use the subject line of your comment to label your work: TITLE (if relevant), FANDOM, CHARACTERS/RELATIONSHIP, RATING (ANY KINKS, WARNINGS, FLAGS).

  • There should be kissing! All kinds of kisses are welcome: gen, shippy, smutty, chaste, familial, friendly, angry, happy! We’re pretty open to anything you want to call kissing. We are fans of all of it.

  • Fanart, fanfiction, drabbles, doodles, live action movies -- whatever you want to supply, we’d like to have it.

  • Be kind to others regarding character or ship choices and prompts. This should be fun for everyone!

  • Prompt early, prompt often, and leave as many as you want.

  • Prompts can be filled multiple times!

  • To leave a blitzkrieg kiss: If you have something but no one has prompted it yet, blitzkiss away! Just reply to the comment for your fandom, and make sure you use the subject line to label your work.

  • Be sure to check back often -- new kissing action could be showing up everywhere!

  • Spread the word! Tell your friends!

FINAL FANTASY KISS BATTLE 2013

We will be running the Kissing Battle on Dreamwidth only. There are two main reasons for this: 1) Dreamwidth’s comment limit is huge, allowing for longer kissing masterpieces; and 2) Dreamwidth still supports subject lines for comments, which are vital to a meme like the Kiss Battle. However, the Battle is open to everyone. Feel free to participate with your Dreamwidth (account creation is invite-free right now~!), your Livejournal or other OpenID account (see here if you want to set up an OpenID), or anonymously.

Have fun! Get smoochin'!

OMG, I LOVE THIS. SO HARD. Just. Garland. And Sarah. And the oath. Which had last been sworn to her ancestress (by her ancestors? I kind of love that she doesn't call said knight her thrice-great-grandfather, you know? Gramma's the ~important one~.) And he's her chaaaaaaampion. POW RIGHT IN THE FEALTY KINK. Seconding the Garland-be-good-to-your-princess BECAUSE HELL YEAH.

FEALTY KINK YES. High-five!

HIGH-FIVING FOREVER! (Final Fantasy fandom has, like, ALL THE OPPORTUNITIES for it.)

Hey, great-gramma was the Queen. The dude was "just" a knight. ;)

I am loving this. And loving the sense of continuity, that "my great-grandmother before me"--- that it's her grandmother who is important, in... kind of the way that you see dudes in stories follow in their fathers' footsteps. That... chain of identity. And I am loving the way you flipped the gender roles.

[personal profile] lassarina 2013-02-15 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Flipping gender roles is a thing I have done a fair bit of, the past several years; there was a round of het_challenge a few years back where one claimed clichés and I took it as a personal mission to flip them all. I was pretty pleased with the results!

But yes, I am very fond of women in their mothers' footsteps, both in original fiction and in fandom.

Princesses in the wild get to have all the fun.

Regarding character creation: As I'm sure I've mentioned 1001 times by now, one of the reasons I like Create-Your-Own characters in games is that I like seeing people run with them. Wheee~!

Recovery (Wakka/Lulu/Luzzu, PG)

[personal profile] owlmoose 2013-02-15 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Night was already falling by the time they found Luzzu again: still sitting on the ground by the temple, still staring vacantly into the distance. A meal rested on a tray next to him, and his hands gripped a canteen. Lulu noticed that the food was barely touched, and she glanced at Wakka with a sigh. "He's taking it harder than I expected," she murmured.

Wakka shook his head. "He blames himself. We both know what that's like, ya?"

"Yes." Lulu lowered her eyes. As she so often did, she wished Chappu were here. He would have known what to say, just the right words to make Luzzu smile again. Still, she had to try. "I don't think he should be alone."

"Me neither. C'mon." Wakka picked his way through the rocks to Luzzu's side, and Lulu followed. Luzzu didn't seem to notice them at first; not until Wakka cleared his throat did he set down the water and start to scramble to his feet. Wakka stilled him with a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, you're taking it easy, remember?" Luzzu paused, nodded, then dropped back to the ground with a heavy sigh, hands resting on his knees; his knuckles were scraped and raw from the pounding he had given to the temple walls. Wakka sat next to him, and after moving the dinner tray aside, Lulu took a place on his other side, shifting her skirts as she settled on the ground.

"Did Yuna receive the Aeon?" Luzzu looked to Lulu, who nodded, and then leaned his head back against the wall. "Good. May she succeed where the Crusaders failed and rid the world of this scourge. The right way, the way Yevon taught us. Even if it means she--" His mouth tightened, and he brought a hand up to pinch his nose; when he spoke again, his voice was thick with grief. "Dammit! Damn Sin, and everything it takes from us!"

Lulu let a gentle hand fall on his knee, and he turned to her with red-rimmed eyes. "And that's why Yuna fights," she said. "Why the Crusaders fight. And those of us left behind..." She lifted her face to his and kissed him, softly on the cheek. "We get through it, together. Like we always have."

"Listen to Lu, eh?" Wakka shifted and put an arm around Luzzu's shoulders. Luzzu lowered his head, and a few tears slid down his cheeks, leaving fresh trails to join the dry ones. "She knows what she's talking about."

"I-- I know." Luzzu drew his hands down his face to wipe it clean. "Thank you. And I'm sorry. You must have other duties."

"Nah." Wakka waved off his concern. "Yuna is helping the healers, Tidus turned in early, and Sir Auron is standing guard. Nothing he can't handle. Besides, someone's gotta keep an eye on you." He leaned over and kissed Luzzu's temple, then ruffled his hair. "Keep you outta trouble."

Luzzu almost smiled. "Now that you know I need watching?"

"Yup." Wakka grinned, although Lulu still read grief in his eyes, for losses both old and new. "Like a hawk."

"I've asked myself a lot of questions today. Most of them don't have answers yet. But I know one thing." Luzzu put an arm around Lulu's back and hugged her into his side. "You're right, Wakka. I should go home to Besaid and recover from my wounds. All of them." He grimaced. "I wish you would, too, but I understand why you can't." He paused, then sighed. "At least you're here tonight." He turned first to Wakka and kissed him, swift and hard on the lips, and then he kissed Lulu, more gently, bringing a hand to her cheek, his other tightening against her shoulder.

A surprise, but not an unpleasant one. Lulu took a moment to sink into the kiss, to accept the soft lips caressing hers, warm and alive, the opposite of the death that surrounded them all. She hadn't been kissed like this in so long, too long, not since--

Chappu's face drifted across her mind's eye and she had to break away; Luzzu's hand trailed down her cheek as he pulled back, too. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't..."

"It's all right." Lulu leaned against his side, a wordless invitation to put his arm around her again. She looked over Luzzu at Wakka; he caught her eye, then nodded. It was all right. Maybe the most "all right" in a long time. "We won't leave you. Not tonight."

"C'mere." Wakka pulled Luzzu into a sideways hug, and Luzzu let his head fall to pillow against Wakka's broad chest. Wakka leaned his head on Luzzu's; Lulu considered at them for a moment before snuggling into Luzzu's warm embrace. The three of them, together against the world one last time, letting the old wound they shared finally start to heal.

"Jelana? You okay? I didn't hurt you, did I?"

Jelana, for the third time in the past hour, pushed herself up from the muddy earth, almost dropping the sword in her hand, and wondered why she was inflicting this on herself. "I'm fine, Alia," she groaned, checking to make sure that she wasn't bleeding this time. The last time she'd fallen, her comrade had managed to give her a good scratch on the arm - not an overly painful one, and easy enough to clean and heal, but it had stung her pride, if nothing else. "Just... a little out of my element."

"Well, let's stop and rest a while, then." She heard Alia sheathe her sword. "I was starting to get tired, anyway."

Jelana bit back a groan. Her arms had been aching ever since this had started, but she was determined not to complain. She might not be as strong or as fast as her companion, but she wasn't going to quit. This had been her idea, and she didn't like giving up on anything. "If you insist," she said, trying to hide her gratitude behind gruff resignation.

She didn't know why she'd bothered; Alia noticed, like she always did. But she didn't call her out on it; she just smiled and handed her a flask of water. "Here," she said quietly. "It's nice and cool. Kelia's doing, of course."

"Thank you." Jelana did her best not to drink too quickly, for all that she was parched. The lands around the kingdom of the elves were temperate enough, but she had been under considerable strain. She'd learned to fight with her staff, if not to any degree of effectiveness, but wielding a sword was something else entirely, and she was so clumsy with it! She couldn't help but hold the damned thing as far away from herself as she could, terrified that she would fall on it during a bungled maneuver.

Alia led her over to the shade of one of the tall oaks and sat her down, still in view of the camp where the others waited. They had to stay close, in case one of those damned giants tried to swat them off of what they'd decided was their lands. If she'd been an elf king she would've wiped them out by now.

"Okay, hon, you are looking entirely too tense lately!" Alia stripped off her gauntlets and gloves, flexing her calloused fingers. "Turn around."

"Huh?" Jelana blinked at her companion, startled out of her brooding.

"Turn around and lean back so that I can give you a back rub!" Her green eyes gleamed under her helmet.

"Shouldn't we wait until we're back in town?" Jelana asked, blinking.

"We're safe here, silly. And it's just a back rub, not anything like that! Not like the other girls wouldn't understand anyway, right?"

Jelana turned away then, but mostly because she didn't want Alia to see her blush. That had been an awkward few moments, when the others had caught them kissing at the inn in Coneria. She'd thought Kelia would never stop teasing them. At least Lora had responded with some degree of composure, although she'd still grinned whenever she saw the two together.

It never bothered Alia and it shouldn't bother her. The four of them had agreed to watch each other's backs, hadn't they? They would've found out sooner or later, and it wasn't as if either of them had any problems with it. But having her personal life on display like that made her stomach churn, even when there was no reason for it.

"So tense, even when you're worn out," Alia murmured, her hands expertly finding the knots through her robes. Jelana couldn't keep herself from making a soft, grateful sound, almost a moan, despite her exhaustion. "Why won't you ever relax, darling?"

"Someone has to keep things together," Jelana murmured, softly. "Where would you all be without me?"

"Hmmm." She chuckled a bit. "But you're getting better, though. Remember when we sparred for the first time, before we met the others? You were sore for days after that!"

"I remember. I can't believe how much you tolerated my complaints." She had to smile at the thought. "And how you kept reminding me that I'd feel better if I kept at it."

"Well, you do, don't you?"

"I suppose," she said, and turned her head to kiss Alia as she leaned forward, a swift kiss on the lips. "I should thank you for your persistence. The Orb of Water chose you well."

Alia frowned slightly. "How so?"

"Well," Jelana answered, before leaning in for another kiss, "You always wear the stones down, in time."

"Mmmmm," Alia answered - there was little she could say besides that, under the circumstances. "We should perhaps go back to our tent, if we're to keep at this."

"Agreed." Jelana smiled. She wasn't even sure she'd object to the teasing.
