DOINK! Friending Meme!

We’ve always wanted to have a friending meme for Doink, but... in an exchange where gifts are surprises, and gifters and recipients are big secrets, it never seems like the right time. So we’d like to have one now! No one has to worry about ruining the big reveal, and we all get to have fun and make some friends!

If you’d like to participate, we’ve prepared some text you can copy and fill out to tell the community a little bit about yourself, where friends can find you, and which parts of Final Fantasy fandom make you sparkle like a happy Megalixir. Feel free to fill out as much or as little as you’d like - we encourage everybody to share their fandom likes and loves, so that you can connect with like-minded fans, but it isn’t necessary.

The way to play is quite simple:

1. Copy the text, fill it out, and leave a comment! We’ll have two posts, one for LJ and one for DW - if you’re looking for new friends in both places, feel free to fill both out.
2. Scan the page and read about the Doink community! Does someone look interesting? Strike up a conversation! Make some friends! WRITE COMMENT FIC. Whatever you’d like!
3. Add folks to your various friend networks as you desire!
4. Repeat as needed.
5. Everyone wins!

Just two notes before we start:

• This is not exclusive to Chocobo Down participants, or to Doink participants. It’s open to everyone! So please spread the word.


• We hope this doesn’t really need to be said, but please stay kind, positive, and respectful of everyone’s widely different kinds of fandom love.

1. This might sound a little weird, but um. I wouldn't play Dirge of Cerberus. ^^; I uh. I have read the scripts (both the English script and the English fan translation of the Japanese script) and I watched the cutscenes on YouTube. Funny fact! I was not watching the cutscenes for plot, but for good Reeve screenshots to make icons from. Then I noticed the rifle, and I just kind of flailed and went, SCRIPTS, WHY DID NO ONE MENTION THIS THING?

2. I would very much like an active Turks comm! I mean, MOST of what I write is Turks (and Reeve) related, and well, I've signed up for other FF7 communities, but... I completely and totally gloss over pretty much anything that isn't the Turks (and/or Reeve and/or Rufus), and really, we just need our own community for our suited lovelies. I was thinking something along the lines of a place to post fic/icons/vid/fanmix/whatever with regularly scheduled prompt posts and discussion posts? But believe me, I am massively open to ideas.

Re: Elena, which Elena fic? I've written a few, but are you talking about the most recent one? Where she's been captured by Don Corneo? Because that fic is burned into my mind too. *laughs* We desperately need more Elena in this fandom. And, well, more Turk love all around, of course, but ESPECIALLY Elena love, in my opinion. ^^

Oh my, well, it certainly would've helped if I'd named the title. ^_^; That would be, "Earning Her Place," which is seriously one of the best Elena fics...hell, best TURK fics...I've ever read.

I agree with you about a Turks comm, for sure. I know there are a few out there on LJ: blue_suits, turkcoffee, and then a few others that cater to Shinra as a whole, but have a high concentration of Turk!fic. But all of them are pretty kaput from what I can tell. :( If you ever wanted any help, I'd happily volunteer. I spend most of my fandom time dredging the Internet for good Turk!fic and writing it.

Oh, man. "Earning Her Place" is indeed one of my favorites, but I've written a few other Elena fics since then ("Life, Post Midgar" and "Trust and the Blue"). I just. Elena fic! (If you liked "Earning Her Place," you'd probably very much like "Trust and the Blue;" there's a lot of similarities in them.)

Yeah, see, I know there's some LJ comms, but I don't actually LJ anymore? I mean, I have one, but I never open it, and I don't even crosspost to it anymore. So if there's not an active one on DW, it might as well not exist for me. ^^; So... I'm currently waiting to hear back on a support ticket, but after that, I think I will end up making a Turk comm. We need one.

Well, damn. This might mean I have to actually use my DW. Which I would totally do for a Turk comm, that's for sure.

Oh, man. I just went to start to add you to my circle, then I noticed that your journal is only there so you can participate in DW comms. Sadness! ... I probably shouldn't create an RSS feed just to get your posts on my read page, yeah? ^^;

Hah! I know that feeling. x.x It's really kind of crazy, trying to sort through to make sure you've got everyone!

Also, if I'm awake and at home, I'm available for chatting on AIM or gtalk (I'm Traxits on both) if you use either of those. ^^
