Yes, it's happening! Right here and right now! :D

We are still considering our availability and options for running a full exchange sometime this year, and we'll keep you posted on any future developments. In the meantime, we wanted to bring back the Kiss Battle: it's a tradition, and really fun!

Since we aren't doing the Chocobo Races this year, there are no teams and no points. However, we will give a shout-out to the top five contributors, with special recognition to the person who creates kisses for the most canons. :)

RULES

All prompts will be organized by fandom, using Master Links. When leaving prompts, please put it under the right canon! If in a compilation canon, please include the important details!

To leave a prompt: leave one prompt per comment, with FANDOM: CHARACTERS/RELATIONSHIP in the subject line and your prompt in the body.

To leave a fill: reply to the comment in question. Please use the subject line of your comment to label your work: TITLE (if relevant), FANDOM, CHARACTERS/RELATIONSHIP, RATING (ANY KINKS, WARNINGS, FLAGS).

There should be kissing! All kinds of kisses are welcome: gen, shippy, smutty, chaste, familial, friendly, angry, happy! We’re pretty open to anything you want to call kissing. We are fans of all of it.

Fanart, fanfiction, drabbles, doodles, live action movies -- whatever you want to supply, we’d like to have it.

Be kind to others regarding character or ship choices and prompts. This should be fun for everyone!

FINAL FANTASY KISS BATTLE 2016

We will be running the Kiss Battle on Dreamwidth only. There are two main reasons for this: 1) Dreamwidth’s comment limit is huge, allowing for longer kissing masterpieces; and 2) Dreamwidth still supports subject lines for comments, which are vital to a meme like the Kiss Battle. However, the Battle is open to everyone. Feel free to participate with your Dreamwidth (account creation is invite-free right now~!), your Livejournal or other OpenID account (see here if you want to set up an OpenID), or anonymously.

During Cloud's time as a Warrior of Chaos - 'the endless loop'.

The last manikin fell with a crash, scattering shards across the phantom palace's tiled floor before the remnants faded out of sight; and Tifa didn't bother to hide a victorious, if tired, smile as she tightened her gloves.

Oh it was a victory, sure enough, but there was just no end to the mindless things. They just ... came on coming, and with fewer and fewer of Cosmos' fighters to turn the tide (never mind just why that was), each victory was hard-won and then some.

At least I know how to pace myself. Unlike some people I could name.

More like one person. One person, off to Tifa's right, trying to unobtrusively scrape himself up off the floor while she seemed distracted --

Good try, Master Dragon Knight, but I don't think so.

In three quick strides Tifa closed the distance before Kain could lever himself to a standing position with his lance. He stared up at her, half blearily and half wary (or maybe he was getting punch-drunk; she wasn't sure at this point). She shook her head, and extended a hand.

"You know if you keep being so stubborn you're just going to fall on your face and stay there, right? And then I'll just have to pour a potion down your throat, and you'll complain about wasting supplies ~"

"That's untrue, Miss Lockhart."

He accepted the offered hand, carefully, head tilted to regard her. Beneath his helm's partial mask, Kain's face was expressionless; but something trying very hard not to be wry humour lurked in his tired murmur.

"That is entirely untrue, because you'll do no such thing.

"You'll just choose to splash it all over me again -- which, yes, would be a waste. I will be fine."

Such stubbornness. If it weren't such a life-and-death situation, Tifa had no doubt she'd find it even more hilarious; and her suspicion that she was destined to keep being saddled with stubborn gits -- or was it, had been destined? memory loss was such a pain -- only intensified it.

He'd unbent a little over the course of their travels together, though, and that was nice. Nice, that he was maybe trying to make her feel a little better; nice that the coming apocalypse really wasn't something she was facing alone.

Nice enough for Tifa to lean in and reward his attempt at levity with a peck on the expanse of pale cheek not covered by mask before she hauled the startled dragoon to his feet.

"Fine enough that your walls are crumbling down? I can work with that.

"Come on, up you go. Let's go die trying to save the world."

He looks as if he were already gone.

Sobering thought, that. No loss could be afforded, if his gamble -- betrayal mingled with mad hope -- were to succeed. Worse, if one of theirs be lost at his own hands ... better to have fallen honourably, fighting back Chaos' underlings and the crystalline onslaught.

Carefully, slowly, with a gentleness that would have perhaps surprised some of his current companions, Kain lay Firion to rest on the cold stone of the plinth, adjusted his panoply of weaponry to cause the least discomfort.

It indeed felt as if he were arranging the limbs of a corpse for funeral rites.

But Firion still breathed; beneath the slack pallor of his flesh, his heart still beat. And yet ...

And yet that was not at all what gnawed at Kain. Not at all.

Despair fluttered around him, an unseen darkness that threatened to devour him as he stood as if in vigil next to the plinth, gazed down at Firion's unmoving features, reached out once to brush a pale stray lock away from that still face.

There was -- there is -- no time.

When you wake again, we will be nothing ...

... and so many things would be left unspoken.

Should the mad plan succeed, in the end Cosmos would, no doubt, blank all memory of his existence, and that of the others, from the minds of the sleepers. It was the way of the cycle, after all -- Kain's mouth twisted in bitter bile at the thought -- to wash away anything that was inconvenient. How long had it taken him to win back his own mind?

Silent, watching, he rested a hand on the Blood Sword's sheath where it lay alongside Firion. Watched the shuttered eyes, the still face.

Nothing.

Good.

Resolved, he drew the sword; brought the hungry, heart-keen blade up in one measured stroke, felt the hot, wet burn, tasted steel and the coppery tang ...

... then leaned, swift as the wind, to press lips that ran wet with crimson to Firion's mouth, to leave a blood red rose of his own self behind.

It was all he could offer.

He hoped it could be enough.

"I don't trust you."
