RULES

There are two main reasons for this: 1) Dreamwidth’s comment limit is huge, allowing for longer kissing masterpieces; and 2) Dreamwidth still supports subject lines for comments, which are vital to a meme like the Kiss Battle. However, the Battle is open to everyone. The opening paragraph is SO CREEPY.

And then your story gets SO GOOD.

I can totally get behind the idea of Terra being coy and coltish as a teenager, which would only make sense, given how damaged she is. I also like how you characterize Terra as extremely dangerous, and Celes being fully aware of the danger. If the "Will you be my knight" line is lovely and warm, the last line, "let's trust my armor won't melt so easily," is chilling.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the story!

I'm very fond of writing Celes and Terra but it's the first time I try my hand at this pairing, so I was a bit nervous. Pre-canon Terra being coy and dangerous is one of my favourite things =) Thank you very much for the lovely comment!

I love this moment, and how Rosa & Edward find such beauty in the desert (especially as I love deserts and their landscapes myself). This is a sweet look into these three characters and their happy relationships with each other :)

I love moments in which Edgar & Locke commiserate and comfort each other - they both put up such fronts before everyone else to hide their emotions, and I can see them growing close because of it. Great fic :)

So bittersweet! I've always sort of mentally separated Locke's friendship/relationship with Edgar and his later one with Celes, but this is a great peek into Edgar's perspective of the transition. I can definitely see him getting a little hurt and feeling replaced, after having had some intimacy with Locke. That last line is really a punch to the gut. Nice work!

This is the most amazing thing! Thank you! I'm so happy that Locke has a cameo as well. It's just like him to underestimate Terra and then get flustered! Terra totally wins this game.

I love your art style! Why wasn't I already following you on Tumblr? This is a criminal oversight, and I need someone to blame. I BLAME LOCKE COLE.

Anyway, you now have a devoted fan. I've been reading through your Tumblr, and I love that you're so vocal about your opinions on FFVI. Stay awesome!

Aaaah I'm so glad you like it! There needs to be more Gogo in the world in general IMO so I knew I had to fill this prompt.

I'M GLAD YOU ENJOY MY OPINIONS AND DON'T THINK I'M A JERK! haha I sometimes go overboard with my dumb FF6 rants. I have played the game so many times over the years I have it memorized. I'm obsessed. It's so awesome to meet other fans even 20 years later.

Locke cameos in everything because I'm obsessed with him. I RPed him on Tumblr for awhile until recently and I am so in love. He's just like... "Of course, I get blamed for everything." XD

The fact that the summoning gems talk to her isn't something Garnet mentions to any of the others. It never occurs to her to, even in the settling piece after the final battle. The quiet, unobtrusive voices in the back of her head as natural to her as the sound of the waters around the castle.

And they aren't always there. They come out on starlit nights that don't allow for sleeping, and afternoons spent reading, and an agitated suserration in the seconds before a threat appears.

She can call them up, if she wants, knows Ramuh's idle muttering from Shiva's curt, if sincere interest, from Leviathon's boredom. It's a bit like summoning, only not. A halfway thing.

There is one that's a bit more insistent though. Has been since she found it in the roots of a tree. Always curious, mostly playful, more interested in conversation than the others. Angel.

Angel with the feathers and the bright blue light that made them all faster, stronger, but not before it left their enemies blinded, and hurting. A swell of complex, arcane magic that Garnet hadn't felt anywhere else.

Angel who didn't leave her alone on nights like this, who's not-so-gentle pull on the inside of her consciousness dragged her away from the chaos of parties and politics and into the night air, as surely as a physical hand in hers.

'It's no fun in there. It's not very important either. How many times have you sighed that same law under some other name?'

And it's a relief. The sight of the city at night and that someone, somewhere agrees with her on the issue, so just smiles. And responds.

'It's my duty though. As queen. Who else will put up with it?'

'I don't know. But right now someone not you.'

'And what would you have me do instead then?'

'Breathe.'

Garnet can practically feel the laughter shaking shoulders that weren't hers. And she doesn't mind it.

Then feathers. And blue light. And a familiar warmth and pressure that makes it's way from her forehead, to the corner of her eye, to her lips. And then just the city, just the night again.

'I didn't call you.'

'Sure you did. When you signed up for this for the third night in a row. How could I ignore that? Let's take a break. You can get back to ruling the world in ten.'
