2014 Final Fantasy Kiss Battle
RULES
- All prompts will be organized by fandom, using Master Links. When leaving prompts, please put it under the right canon! If in a compilation canon, please include the important details!
- To leave a prompt: leave one prompt per comment, with FANDOM: CHARACTERS/RELATIONSHIP in the subject line and your prompt in the body.
- To leave a fill: reply to the comment in question. Please use the subject line of your comment to label your work: TITLE (if relevant), FANDOM, CHARACTERS/RELATIONSHIP, RATING (ANY KINKS, WARNINGS, FLAGS).
- There should be kissing! All kinds of kisses are welcome: gen, shippy, smutty, chaste, familial, friendly, angry, happy! We’re pretty open to anything you want to call kissing. We are fans of all of it.
- Fanart, fanfiction, drabbles, doodles, live action movies -- whatever you want to supply, we’d like to have it.
- Be kind to others regarding character or ship choices and prompts. This should be fun for everyone!
- Prompt early, prompt often, and leave as many as you want.
- Prompts can be filled multiple times!
- To leave a blitzkrieg kiss: If you have something but no one has prompted it yet, blitzkiss away! Just reply to the comment for your fandom, and make sure you use the subject line to label your work.

FINAL FANTASY KISS BATTLE 2014
We will be running the Kissing Battle on Dreamwidth only. There are two main reasons for this: 1) Dreamwidth’s comment limit is huge, allowing for longer kissing masterpieces; and 2) Dreamwidth still supports subject lines for comments, which are vital to a meme like the Kiss Battle. However, the Battle is open to everyone. Feel free to participate with your Dreamwidth (account creation is invite-free right now~!), your Livejournal or other OpenID account (see here if you want to set up an OpenID), or anonymously.

As Locke may no longer fit her.
There are so many creases worn in, so many cuts and scars, so old, stark reminders of the years he’s lived on without her, that she’s missed in her eternally dead slumber. But she has nothing else left but him, in this dark and foreboding world that has moved on without her, and so she curls her fingers around his as they step beyond the border of her hometown. In reply, he squeezes her hand, but pulls his away.
Later, when he’s smiled and nodded and said his hellos to everyone – everyone but her, it seems – he vanishes into the depths of the unfamiliar ship. But she’s never flown before, and it’s a welcome respite, even if the depths of the sky are crimson and lightning streaks across the distance.
It’s much later in the night that she finds him again, deep below deck, alone, solemnly carving a Shape out of a dry branch. Her fingers knead at the unfamiliar tension strung taut between his shoulder blades, and he locks up tighter. He brushes the shavings from his arm as she slides to her knees beside him. When he raises his head, her mouth meets his and for a mere moment, it’s not just a memory.
Locke pushes her back gently, but it’s a dismissal all the same.
“Look, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to...” He swallows what he’d been about to say, then shrugs and shakes his head. “I need some time to sort my head out. You know?”
At the last, he offers a smile, crooked and pained. Almost as one, they each breathe – in, then out.
“Yeah,” Rachel whispers, and her voice is far thicker than she remembers. “I know.”
She stumbles out of the hiding hole he’s sequestered himself in, unbalanced by this world that left her behind. Combing her fingers through her hair and twisting, she gasps to find not black but gold strands across her knuckles.

OH MY GOD
This was my thought process while reading:
- Oh cool, an AU where Rachel lives beyond a few minutes and joins the party after her resurrection!
- Aggg, Locke is (understandably) conflicted, but that's kind of cold! Poor Rachel ;_;
- FRICK THIS JUST TOOK A HORROR-MOVIE TWIST!
I LOVE the ambiguous ending - as I interpret it, Rachel was able to live on by possessing Celes' body?? HORRIFYING AND AMAZING. The most gut-wrenching twists are the ones where someone's good intentions turn out very, very wrong (this isn't what you'd expected in the end, is it, Locke?). OMG. I never could have expected such a result from this prompt, but I LOVE IT. Thank you so much!!
