November Chocobo Races!

DOINK! Chocobo Races 2012
November Theme: Mixing Up The Media!

Administrative Bits
  • If you haven't yet chosen your team, make sure you sign up here if you want your work to count for points!
  • Confused? Need a refresher on the rules? Wondering how to post? Get more information about Chocobo Racing here.
  • You can browse the Chocobo Down list at any time!

November's Bonus Theme
Since many fans participate in NaNoWriMo during the month of November - and many fans who don't are otherwise cheering on friends - we've decided to mix things up this month. Bonus points will be given for any work done in a media different than traditional fanfiction. What exactly does this cover? Well, first, the obvious:
  • Fanart
  • Fanvids
  • Manipulations + Original Writing (for example, an edited screenshot or series of screenshots with some poetry)
  • Mixed Media work (stories told through graphics, such as a story told as a series of post-it notes, etc)
  • Documentations (for example, a poster, magazine cover or article, etc)

In addition to that, we will also be including a few options for those of you who are strictly writers-only: non-traditional forms of fanfiction are included in the list of things that get you bonus points, such as:
  • Poetry
  • Scripts or screenplay/stage play/movie style
  • Epistolary fic (letters - also could include email/texting fic)
  • Heavily formatted or format-dependent stories

Please note -- this is not an all-inclusive list of every kind of non-traditional fanwork! Please leave suggestions in the comments - especially if you have a great idea - we'll gladly add it to the list (as long as we consider them all equivalent)!

How will the scoring go?
  • Any work that fits the theme of Mixing Up The Media will receive 10 points. Because various forms of various media have various 'standards', there will be no strict quality standards this month. We just ask that you make your work equivalent to ~500 words of fanfic -- whatever you consider that benchmark to be.
  • Any work that doesn't fit the November theme, but is submitted in November, will still receive 5 points.
  • Remember that you have to be signed up for a team before you post your work in order to get points!

What prompts are eligible for this month?

What if there isn't anything in the Chocobo Down Database that I want to create for? What if I want to ask for something else?
Since this month opens up new options for fun media, we'll open the prompt post sooner than usual this time. Look for it in a couple days!

Some reminders for this round:
  • Please include the prompt you are filling somewhere when you post your work!
  • Since the mods can't guarantee we have the time to look at every work ourselves, please make sure you label your work appropriately, so that we know who gets bonus points and who doesn't!
  • For this month, please make sure you use labels and tags to identify your work as a non-traditional media or a non-traditional format (ie, tagging as "Epistolary" on AO3). This will help us tally points faster!

Ready, Set, Go... Let's mix it up! We haven't had a piece of fanart submitted yet -- let's change that! The November Chocobo Races are open!
