August Chocobo Races: Rare Character / Relationship Prompt Post!

August is Rare Character / Rare Relationship Month, and we have a lot of interesting prompts in our Chocobo Down Database -- but we know that with rare characters and rare ships, well, they're rare. There's no guarantee that there's a prompt in the database for that overlooked character or pairing you love! Because of that, we'd like to invite all of our Chocobo Racers to leave prompts for rare chars/pairs/ships here, in the comments of this post. Anyone can browse, and anyone can fill!

To leave a prompt:

• Please put the canon and character or ship in the subject of the comment. FFVI: Edgar/Setzer, or FFVII (OGC): Scarlet, or FFVIII: Laguna/Kiros/Ward are examples.


• Leave the details of your prompt in the comment. "Anything goes" usually isn't as helpful as you'd think - even if it's true! - so please try to add some optional details or ideas for people who might want a pointer.


• You can leave as many prompts as you wish, although we would ask you to stick to 5 prompts to keep things manageable. If you manage to fill someone's rare character/ship wish, however, feel free to come leave as many prompts as you want!

FFIII: Desch, FFVII: Zack/Cissnei, FFX-2: Baralai/Tidus, FFX-2: Baralai/Yuna, FFXII: Rasler/Ashe

FFIII ~ Desch! Anything about Desch (his life as an Ancient, or his life after he woke up with Amnesia, or even how he fixed that tower). If you manage to write Desch/Refia in somehow, bonus points!

FFVII ~ Zack/Cissnei. How they operate together at the work force, or how they spent their time in Costa del Sol, or what could have been if Zack had not dated Aerith. Even something about their compatibility or chemistry would be nice.

FFX-2 ~ Baralai/Tidus. Friendship or mild yaoi. I just want to see the kind of relationship they'd have or any possible close-as-canon interaction. Those two are my favorite FFX/-2 characters and I really wished to see what kind of friendship they'd develop. Even Alternate Reality is acceptable.

FFX-2 ~ Baralai/Yuna. Maybe something about Baralai's change in profession after he manages to succeed disbanding New Yevon. Would he be a scholar of a Bevellian University or travel the world as an Archeologist? And he would cross paths with Yuna when he's studying the ruins of Besaid? Or after the events of the Yadonoki tower, Yuna pays the busy Praetor a visit. I'd like to see how Yuna and Baralai picks up the pieces of their fractured friendship.

FFXII ~ Rasler/Ashe. Pre-FFXII or even some kind of AR. How would having Rasler alive change the course of the plot, and Ashe's love life? Or how did they get along in each other's childhood?

FFVIII: Card Queen

FFVIII Card Queen: I'd love to see anything about the Card Queen - her adventures in Triple Triad around the world, the people she meets, what it's like to play Triple Triad during time compression (priorities much?). Or pair her up with anyone - like Squall or Quistis and make it Strip Triple Triad (don't know how that would work but Strip Triple Triad y'all). Or explain why she has Irvine's card.

FFX: Lady Yunalesca

In her own time: relationship with her husband Lord Zaon, anything about the Bevelle-Zanarkand war, the summoners of Zanarkand and Yu Yevon, did she know Lenne or Shuyin?

Set later or during the FFX storyline: encountering other summoners (Braska, Belgemine, etc) or a conversation with Auron

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance/Tactics A2: Ritz/Adelle

FFTA/TA2: Ritz/Adelle - Something where they meet up at a pub and end up competing for the same hunt. Hurt/comfort with optional situation where Ritz offers Adelle a chance to join her clan (or vica versa - possibly an AU where Ritz joins Clan Nutsy when her and Marche are transported to Ivalice?).

FFTA2: Adelle/Illua

FFTA2: Adelle/Illua - I've been itching to read an AU where Adelle takes up Illua's offer to join her. Or just something dark and angsty (for fic or art - I'm really not picky either way).

FFIX: Stiltzkin

Why he travels, how he got his grubby pink hands on a World Map, why he offloads his treasure collections for so little money, how he got to Terra...you get the idea. Bonus points for incorporating his letters of Mognet in some way.

FFTA2 - Frimelda

FFTA2: Frimelda - Redemption. She's been betrayed by the love of her life. Forced to wander the land as a zombie. Saved by a witch's brew thanks to the kind heart of Luso (or killed by him... *gives you all suspicious looks*). And now she's, well, no one. A beautiful warrior with a hole in her heart and no direction in her new life. Please, someone redeem her! T-T (Bonus for her finding a new love, preferably femslash (but not mandatory), and it could be with anybody from the Ivalice Alliance.)

FFXII: Rogue Tomato

FF4 (OGC): Edward/Kain

I have had the weirdest desire to see this for a while! I know Edward and Kain never really interacted in canon but I'd sort of love to see Edward finally meeting Kain after all they've both been through. Maybe Kain seeks out Edward as a convenient (semi)neutral 3rd party for his massive amounts of guilt and angst. Maybe Edward's writing a ballad cycle and needs to get the elusive dragoon to tell his side of the story so he can put the finishing touches on his saga. Maybe Kain finds Edward unusually sympathetic, and maybe he appreciates (or hates) that. Hurt, comfort, and angst all welcome if you got 'em, but something a little more lighthearted and fun might be an interesting change of pace for both characters as well!

If you feel like upping the angst quotient and getting some Kain/Golbez in there in the background, I'd love you F O R E V E R.

Absolutely anything with them would be amazing, but I think it would be especially awesome to see them teaching each other what they know best-- Rydia trying to capture what it's like to summon, Luca going into mechanics and engineering, each of them learning and growing from their time together.

Various FFVII prompts

1. Tseng/Aerith. Given that this is canon, albeit (presumabably) one-sided, it shouldn't be as rare as it is. But damn it's hard to find one, let alone a good one.

2. Tseng/Tifa. In what world could this make sense?

3. Reno/Aerith. This is my secret guilty pleasure. It's all about the sex.

4. Barret/anybody. This guy needs more love. He is the most under-rated, under-explored character in the entire franchise.

5. Cloud/Elena. It came as a surprise to both of them.

I would love to see Cyan finding his place in the world after the end of magic. It would be great if someone came up with an interesting idea of their own, but if you're stumped, I wouldn't mind seeing him working with Edgar somehow.

FFX - Auron and Tidus

Something I wrote about Auron last month made me want to see more interaction between him and Tidus. Show me Auron teaching Tidus some sort of Pilgrimage-essential skill. Starting a fire? Setting up a tent? Dealing with another Guardian's incessant snoring? Have fun with it!

FFVI - Locke/Celes/Setzer

The three of them are invited to the premiere of an opera loosely based on the Returner's adventures. Is it good or bad? Do they watch the whole thing? Something relatively light-hearted would be great. :D

FFVIII: Squall/Ellone or Squall/Nida

Either ship is awesome, I just really want to see something like an AU of what "could have been" or exploring the lesser character backstories - what if Nida had been the one the sorceress had targeted? What if Elle had been left in Garden to become a SeeD like the rest of them? What is the first GF that Nida actually junctions? Hey, throw in the threesome and you are guaranteed my eternal love and devotion.

3 Prompts for FFVII & FFXII

1. FFVII: Heidegger - What is this dude's deal?! And more interestingly, what is his back story? Would love to see attention paid to where he got that gnarly scar. (Personal note: Heidegger is sort of cast in the OG as a whining joke, which is funny at the time...but then I saw Nomura's concept art for Before Crisis, and it's like...um...I wouldn't want to meet THAT guy in an alley.)

2. FFVII: Zack's parents - These poor people. Okay, would love to see something about Gongaga reactor meltdown, their reaction to Zack's disappearance, anything along those lines, where the FFVII Compilation storyline (or bits of it) is told through their POV.

3. FFXII: Any of the NPC Viera - A POV piece would be lovely on any topic, such as the Wood, how the Viera society works and Eruyt Village, thoughts about other Viera that have left, their intense relationship/sensitivity to Myst, etc.

I'm not sure if these qualify as "rare" pairs, BUT:

FFXII: Ashe/Fran. After Ashe's coronation, Fran decides to give Balthier the slip for a few days and take the Strahl to "kidnap" the Queen. A brief adventure, some badass action or hot hot sex all welcome though I really want the sex not gonna lie. Banter between Fran & Balthier at some point regarding who will wind up getting Ashe, because you know Fran be stealin bitches right out from under Balthier's nose. No, really. I'm not trolling. I want this so goddamn bad. JUDGE ME AS YOU MUST

FFVI: Clyde/Baram. Because I ALWAYS want fic about these two. Riding/robbing trains like a pair of bosses, bromance, sex, WHATEVER-- Baram/Shadow also welcome-- AU in which Baram actually survived and runs into Shadow in the World of Ruin would be boss. How would they react to one another?
