Fun!

Name / Pseud: Wally
Journals (LJ, DW, etc) / AO3 username: [personal profile] wallwalker (personal) | [community profile] personalapocalypse (Fic and meta) | Wallwalker @ AO3

FF canons I’ve experienced: FF, FFIV, FFV, FFVI, FFVII, FFVII:AC, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, FFXIII, FF:TSW (...and I own FFXII but still need to play it, sob)
FF Fandoms I’m active in: ...define active. Most recently, though, FFIV, FFVI, FFVIII, FFIX and FFXIII. Occasionally FFVII and FFX, too.
Ways I participate in fandom: Writing and reading fic, putting together rec lists when I get the energy, and writing meta.

5 characters I love and one sentence why
1. Setzer - I started liking him because of the devil-may-care attitude and the crazy lifestyle; I started loving him when I found out about the Falcon and realized how complex he was.
2. Rinoa - She starts out as a spoiled brat, but as she realizes what she's gotten into, she grows up and changes and I love seeing that. (I realize I'm probably the only person who'll say this here, but I'm saying it anyway. :D)
3. Edward - I think I really love him because he isn't a Big Damn Hero like Cecil - he's just a guy who got caught up in something way bigger than himself, and did his best to help. <3
4. Sazh - His outlook on life near the end is so much like mine it's scary, and I like his level-headedness.
5. Freya - She's tough, powerful, and honorable without being blinded by honor; I love coming up with outcomes where she's at peace with herself again.

5 pairings I love and one sentence why
(This is probably the part that will make most people goggle, fair warning!)
1. Locke/Celes/Setzer - I firmly believe that Setzer should totally nab Locke and Celes and sweep them away on his airship, so that they can all live together and trip over each other's pasts and have awesome adventures together.
2. Barret/Tifa - So different in a lot of ways, so alike in all the ways that matter.
3. Quistis/Fujin - Tough, secretly longing girls in love, what wouldn't be to like?
4. Barbariccia/Kain - There are so many directions this couple can go, and all of them are great.
5. Zidane/Freya - Cracky, yes, but I still love it - two friends and battle comrades adventuring together and snarking at each other and dealing with their own issues together and occasionally having fun together? Yes, please!

Themes, kinks, tropes that I really love to see in Final Fantasy fanworks: I like meta about magic and odd ways of working game mechanics into, um, actual mechanics. I love both slice-of-life stuff and grand adventures, and I like things that essentially throw disparate characters into an unusual situation just to see what happens. I like AUs that change one small (or not-so-small) detail about the game's plot and then plays with what changes from there. In fanart I have a real weakness for fancy costuming or alternative interpretations of the tiny ingame sprites that don't necessarily follow the reference art perfectly. And as far as kink goes, I love the fact that so many of the FF games have so much opportunity for xenokink. And magic can do a lot of fun things if used properly, too. >:)

One ridiculous thought or question I have about FF and/or fandom, to start discussion with my new fandom friends:
Hmm... okay: What do FF characters eat anyway? We never see chickens or cows! Do they actually eat monsters that they kill? And the eternal questions: What about chocobos?? D:

Anything else? I often have long periods of inactivity followed by brief periods of flailing and/or fic! I'm hoping to have more fannish meta posts in December on my fanstuff journal, maybe even daily-ish, but we'll see. ^^ (Also Mass Effect has sort of eaten my brain lately, as you'll probably notice on my fic journal in short order...)
