Name / Pseud: KJ Journals (LJ, DW, etc) / AO3 username: owlmoose in all three places Other places I’m looking for awesome fandom friends: I am lifeofkj on Tumblr and definitely looking to do more fandomy things there! I have a Twitter as well (iamkj), but I'm not very fannish there.
FF canons I’ve experienced: FFIV, FFV (the terrible PS1 version), FFVI (not yet finished), FFVII (+Advent Children), FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, FFX-2, FFXII, about 10 minutes of Revenant Wings, FFXIII FF Fandoms I’m active in: FFX/X-2, FFXII, a little bit in FFIV and FFXIII Ways I participate in fandom: mostly a fic writer and reader, but I also love me some meta!
5 characters I love and one sentence why 1. Paine: I was drawn to her right away, and I was intrigued by the mysteries of her backstory, and she gets all the good lines. 2. Auron: All the same reasons as Paine, really. 3. Penelo: The first FFXII character I fell in love with, because she never lets Vaan get away with anything. 4. Vivi: Cute and thoughtful and brave in the face of the unknown. 5. Fang: Strong, devoted, knows what her priorities are and never waivers from them, and kicks some serious ass in battle.
5 pairings I love and one sentence why 1. Paine/Nooj: My Final Fantasy OTP, because of their tragic backstory and all the ways they could move into the future, together and apart. 2. Balthier/Ashe: The princess and the pirate; there are a million reasons it should never work, but my heart roots for them to try regardless. 3. Al-Cid/Ashe/Balthier: One for politics and one for rebellion, and maybe love can find them all, too. 4. Baralai/Yuna: Imagine how they could rebuild Spira together. 5. Rikku/Wakka: Culture clash, searching for understanding and feeling out the new world; plus, it's *adorable*.
Themes, kinks, tropes that I really love to see in Final Fantasy fanworks: Separation and reunion, and not just in a romantic context. Families of choice. Gameplay meta, especially making sense out of the nonsensical. FFX/X-2 stories that explore the history, sociology, and politics of Spira. Unusual pairings and cracky crossovers taken seriously and made to work.
One ridiculous thought or question I have about FF and/or fandom, to start discussion with my new fandom friends: Has anyone else ever noticed that Auron and Baralai are the only male characters in FFX and X-2, respectively, without pierced ears?
Anything else? My current fandom obsession is Dragon Age. Other long-term loves include Babylon 5, ASoIaF, and Star Trek: DS9. But FF is my first fandom home, and I will always belong here.
